Thanks for this, I really enjoyed reading it. The haircut piece was particularly funny!

My ideas, much like yours come from all sorts of places. Some on walks and sometimes walking from room to room and I'll rush for my ideas notebook. Childhood (mine and my kids) often sparks a concept and I think that's the best place to mine for gold.

Thanks Polly, I’m so glad. Walks are GREAT for creative thinking, aren’t they? If ever I’m really stuck, I get away from my desk to do something else and a walk (or washing up/cleaning/some mundane task) so often provides the answer.

I probably don’t mine childhood enough - but yes, I think you’re right. I’m hoping my daughter will provide some great inspiration in time 😂

I also had a hairdressing phase - I have half a fringe in my first school photo! It's really interesting to hear how all your ideas come from different places/directions - thanks for sharing. I've always tried not to read too many picture books in case I get over influenced by them but I think I've been a bit stupid!

Haha brilliant! It seems it’s a bit of a rite of passage - LOADS of people I’ve met (including kids at school visits) seem to have done it 😂

Thank you ☺️ glad you enjoyed it Nicola. I get where you’re coming from - I avoid reading other books or discussing WIPS whilst working on them, in case they influence me too. But I do find it helps spark creativity when I’m lacking inspiration
