oh agree agree agree. Toilet humour can get in the ...

Those were some really positive rejections! Can't wait to hear what happened next.

Best regards, an author who also would forget to include an actual plot for the sake of a good joke.

Haha, oh don’t worry, plot is SO overrated 🤣 I still hope my revamped version of that chapter book has a future somewhere - it is still on active sub, though not very widely - as I do think it would make readers laugh…

I still love the same stuff I loved as a child, and I never liked slapstick or potty humour. (I mean, my tastes have developed of course... but I still have the same taste in silly children's books that I always did.) But then I always felt that I was in the minority.

Have you read The Pirates' Mixed-Up Voyage by Margaret Mahy? A favourite from when I was little.

As always, it's encouraging to read about your rejections. Thank you for sharing so honestly. 😍

It's interesting to hear that you don't always find the middle grade stuff you read funny - I've been the same with some titles that are incredibly successful and wondered if I'm missing something, but then as you say, we're not the target audience! Thanks for sharing so honestly.

We’re not, but there are probably other reasons we don’t find them funny…

I’m sure many are great - and there are many more serious MG books that I love - I just need to read more in that age range, generally. Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting, Nicola! 😊
